going organic

For more than 20 years we have been buying our organic fruit and vegies and look foward to the weekly delivery.  Eating & buying organic food is an excellent way of supporting the environment and local food industry for many reasons and the home delivery has taken the stress out of shopping for us and gives us extra time. Despite the enormous increase of the market it is still expensive though ….  read more ….

bicycle riding to benefit our health, pocket and planet!

Car and bicycle sharing schemes have emerged from urban centres worldwide as a new form of sustainable transport. More and more commuters are navigating our urban environment by bicycles and cities are coming to terms with accommodating cyclists. We are also discovering cycling as a fun family activity supported by the evergrowing network of cycling ways. Read more …

how to turn half the world vegetarian in an instant…

Experts have warned of the climate implications of meat production for several years now and beef is particularly damaging. Decaying manure and flatulent cows release methane, a greenhouse gas. In addition, the production of only 1kg of meat requires 15 kg or grain and 30 kg of forage. Grain in turn needs to be fertilised which requires further energy.

Hence, it would be really beneficial if we could move towards a vegetarian or vegan diet, financially to lighten the cost of climate change mitigation and to speed up reduction of green house gas emissions in the first place….. click here to watch the irresistable solution to this challenge!

going grey is financially rewarding and makes ecosense!

Apparently 8% of men do not know the real haircolour of their wifes…  approximately 70% of women and up to 30% of men in Australia dye their hair regularly. Consider the amount of chemicals going down the drain every day in large parts of the world! And not to mention the potential health risks associated with chemicals in hairdyes like amonia and peroxide. BUT there is more….

  • Awesome,

Ultimately it will be efforts like these that will make sustainable change. A critical mass of rEvolutionaries who understand that every cent and every second are votes toward the future we want to see. Every second and every cent counts.

  • Love the organic, love the bike, not so fussed on no meat. Scientists (including Prof Gordon Grigg) suggests the world would do better farming Kangaroos. They don’t destroy the landscape, they don’t leave as much poo, they have almost no fat and there is little flatulence. I would sooner eat dirt than tofu though I must admit. It’s like turnips, totally pointless

  • Not even part-time vegetarian? I am personally not keen on most tofu dishes either, the texture is okay. And yes, Kangaroos are much better for the environment here is Oz and shouldn’t just end up as pet food if they are eaten at all. I don’t like the idea of farming animals though. There are too many people in the world and the rich are eating too much of everything, not just too much meat. we would get ahead just by reducing the amount we eat!

  • Interesting point on number 4.

Why do we hide our wisdom and age?

Its one thing to wear a mask, its another thing for the mask to wear you. I think it is sad that today the older generation hides itself. Where are the elders young people can refer to? They are hard to find as they attempt to look like the youth.

This attempt to escape life and age is costly, as you pointed out with chemicals needed to upkeep it, but its also costly on the world in so many other ways.

  • I couldn’t agree more. When we look at an old tree we love the way it looks and I like to think our ourselves in the same way and that people look interesting when they are maturing. I haven’t even started on cosmetic surgery yet! misguided time and efforts of doctors who could do much more rewarding and needed work….thank you for commenting!!
